by Silicon Valley Blogger on 2010-07-281

My favorite online bank has its share of great offers for their banking customers. You can find the latest bank promotions from EverBank here, and you can check this page regularly to keep track of any current campaigns and freebies that may benefit you. You may also want to review the previous promos that EverBank has offered in the past, in order to see the types of bonuses you can expect from them.

EverBank’s Active Promotions

#1 Get $500 off a mortgage appraisal.

There is a monetary incentive for those who are looking to get a mortgage (a jumbo loan in particular). If you contact one of their mortgage representatives and decide to get an appraisal, you may receive up to $500 off the process.

EverBank’s Expired Promotions

Note: Please note that the EverBank offers in this section are no longer valid.

Previously, EverBank had promised new customers up to $75 in sign up bonuses for new savings accounts and $60 for opening a checking account. They also had 3 month bonus rates for new accounts plus the guarantee that the yield that you receive will always remain in the top 5% offered by leading banks. EverBank’s deals were for those customers who had decided to open a Yield Pledge Money Market Account or a Yield Pledge Checking Account (formerly known as FreeNet Checking Account) with them. We are describing those offers here to give you an idea of the type of promos that this bank may announce on occasion. Here were the details of PREVIOUS promotions:

#1 Get $60 once you open an Everbank Checking Account.

EverBank is promising new customers $60 for opening a new Yield Pledge Checking Account. It’s one account that goes against the recent trend we’re seeing among big banks which charge debit card fees. So besides the bonus $60, we’re also assured that this offering will remain free, with no extra charges for debit card use, monthly account maintenance or ATM use. What’s more, if you keep an average daily balance of at least $5,000, the EverBank Yield Pledge Checking Account also reimburses you for ATM fees and charges you may incur by using other bank ATMs. Be aware that this promotion will only last till the end of November 2011.

#2 Get $50 for Opening An EverBank Yield Pledge Money Market Account

While EverBank’s cash accounts have great features, the flipside here is that they require a minimum deposit. For the Yield Pledge Money Market Account, you need to have at least $1,500 to get started. And to earn $50, you were required to deposit $20,000 into your new account. The account’s features are as follows:

  • Earn $50 when you deposit at least $20,000 into the account. Expired.
  • Earn a 3 month bonus rate of 2.25% at this time.
  • Earn a 1st year APY of 1.51% when you keep a balance of up to $50,000.
  • A minimum balance of $1,500 is required to open an account.
  • Get a return that’s in the top 5% of what’s offered by competitive accounts.
  • Receive free online banking and mobile banking.
  • Receive free external transfers.
  • You’re allowed up to 6 free transfers or withdrawals per month; you’ll be charged for additional transactions.
  • No minimum balance fees if you keep your balance above $5,000; otherwise, you’ll be charged $8.95 per month.
  • Your account is FDIC insured.

Here were the requirements and the steps you needed to take to open a money market account and qualify for the $50 bonus:

  1. You must be a first time customer.
  2. Visit EverBank and complete the online application.
  3. Deposit a minimum of $20,000 into your account. Note that you only need $1,500 to open an account but you’ll need the higher deposit to earn the bonus.
  4. Maintain an average daily balance for each of the first 4 statement periods equal to or greater than the minimum funding amount for the account.
  5. After these requirements are met, you can expect to receive a $50 credit to your account by the 5th statement period from the time you opened your account.

#3 Get $25 For Opening an EverBank FreeNet Checking Account

There was also a similar offer for those who opened a FreeNet Checking Account. This time, the minimum deposit to earn the $25 cash bonus was $10,000. Yes, it was a little steep for a checking account, but it was probably worth it, given the following features:

  • Earn $25 when you deposit at least $10,000 into the account. Expired.
  • Earn a 3 month bonus rate of 2.25% at this time.
  • Earn a 1st year APY of 1.46% when you keep a balance that’s between $50,000 and $100,000.
  • A minimum balance of $1,500 is required to open an account.
  • Get a return that’s in the top 5% of what’s offered by competitive accounts.
  • Receive free online banking and mobile banking.
  • Receive free external transfers.
  • You can deposit checks at home via EverBank’s Online Check Deposit feature.
  • Get reimbursed for non-EverBank ATM charges on each month that your balance is above $5,000.
  • No monthly fees.
  • Your account is FDIC insured.
EverBank Freenet Checking

And here were the requirements you had to fulfill in order to open your new checking account and receive the $25 bonus:

  1. As mentioned, only new customers are eligible for the bonus.
  2. Visit EverBank and enter the necessary information to open a new FreeNet Checking Account.
  3. Deposit a minimum of $10,000 into your account to earn $25. But note that $1,500 is all you need to get started.
  4. Keep an average daily balance for the first 4 statement periods that is equal to or greater than the minimum amount to fund the account.
  5. The $25 bonus will be credited to your account by the 5th statement period after the account was opened.

This is a good prospect. I expect more savings accounts promotions in the next year, given today’s economic situation and the post-crisis society we live in. The normal course of actions banks would take in the next months is to come up with better offers to reestablish trust and connections.
