Money Articles and Personal Finance Picks: Baby Boomers And The Real Estate Market

by Silicon Valley Blogger on March 31, 2007

The first quarter of the year is over and here are some posts that are “right on the money” to close the month out for you.

Articles I Liked

Gen X Finance asks The Real Estate Generation Gap: The Baby Boomers Are Trying To Sell But Who’s Buying? Definitely some concerns here about how the real estate market could fuel its growth into the future; however, I do believe that the demand for homes will continue forward particularly in certain areas of the country where we see more diversity and development. Part of the demand will come from foreign or overseas interests: this is something I’ve observed in my neighborhood in the last decade or so.

Money Smart Life asks Are Money Myths Costing You Cash? It separates myth from fact, a great list discussing credit scores, taxes, insurance, debt, credit cards, and home values.

Money, Matter and More Musings asks Do You Mistrust Free Stuff? Good question. In some cases, it could be the case, like when someone off the street tries to hand you free stuff. It would be different if the source is trusted. I’d say it depends on which avenue the free stuff comes to your attention.

The Sun’s Financial Diary has The Art of Retail Pricing. This gives you the inside look on how stores price their merchandise.

Lazy Man And Money has The End of My Credit Card Arbitrage (or Why I Hate Discover). Stories like these are the reason why I don’t like trying new merchant relationships out. You never know if it’ll cost you this much hassle. And not too far away, Consumerism Commentary warns us about ending any arbitrage plans as well with Citibank’s New Fee: Forget About Credit Card Arbitrage. This topic seems to be as hot as that $5 latte the finance blogosphere loves to talk about!

Binary Dollar has How To Get Rich. Sweet and simple!

Get Rich Slowly reminds us that Small Amounts Matter! Here’s how you reply to all those people who wonder if it’s worth worrying about pocket change savings. This is a concise piece that gives us a healthy perspective on frugality.

All Financial Matters shows us How an Interest-Only Mortgage Works by providing some mortgage examples.

Fiscal Musings discusses the Best of the Roth IRA, offering some basics of the Roth IRA.
