Talking About Rent vs Buy, Spendable Net Worth and Shopaholism: Carnival Picks

by Silicon Valley Blogger on May 16, 2007

I went the rounds of the money carnivals and here were my picks from the lot, which were full of fantastic financial stories as usual.

The 100th edition of the Carnival of Personal Finance was graciously hosted by My Open Wallet and looked like the largest finance carnival I’ve seen in a while. While over there, I came upon these cool submissions:

I Got Diet Pills for $109, But Never Ordered Them, by Clever Dude
Retirement Planning - Focus On SPENDABLE Net Worth, by My Wealth Builder
Rent vs. Buy:Only Rent For The Right Reasons by Broke Now, Rich Later
The Upsell - You Can Say No, Save Your Money! by $1 Million To My Name

The royal pink Carnival of Debt Reduction #87, Mother’s Day Edition was at Ask Mr Credit Card. Thanks for celebrating a belated Mother’s Day, Mr CC.

How I Plan To Help My Children Avoid The Credit Trap (Part 2) by No Credit Needed
Confessions of a Compulsive Shopper by Debt Free Wannabe
Book Review: Generation Debt by Frugal Law Student

Unfortunately, as of this writing, the Festival of Frugality hadn’t been posted yet, so I’m unable to include any selections from there, but as soon as it’s released, I’ll definitely be following up.
