Personal Things About Me In Blog Memes Galore

by Silicon Valley Blogger on October 6, 2007

Just a few more revelations about the author of this blog.

Question Mark

When it rains, it pours. Another blog meme or two has knocked on my door.

Today, I have the opportunity to go slightly off our usual money topics since I’ve been recently tagged with a couple of internet blog memes. For those wondering what a meme is, here’s a quick definition:

A blog meme is a type of Internet meme that requires active participation by the blogger and rarely traces back to an originating source. It’s often a series of questions that a blogger answers to share some personal perspective or experience on random topics.

So I’ve been recruited to respond to a couple of posts asking to share something personal about myself. Let’s see what I can do.

Meme Response #1: 7 or 8 Random Things About Me

The Frugal Law Student (that would be Brett) has asked me to reveal 8 random things about myself. And just a few days ago, Melissa from A Penny Closer tagged me to disclose 7 random things. To respond to this seemingly popular inquiry, I’d like to build upon a few points that I’ve already written about in the past.

  1. I’m a mom of two. (old fact)
  2. I’ve been a software engineer for over 15 years. (old fact)
  3. I have an entrepreneurial spouse in the technical field. (old fact)
  4. I hope to be a full time investor and mompreneur (small business owner who also happens to be a mom) one day. (old fact)
  5. I am a first generation immigrant who came to the U.S. as a foreign student to attend a California university.
  6. I’m a homebody and enjoy spending my free time puttering around my home. Ironically, my best friends and family are scattered all over the world.
  7. I come from a long line of lawyers.
  8. I’ve been through and survived a few crazy earthquakes in California as well as in the stock market.

Meme Response #2: My Favorite Things

I would also like to reply to yet an older meme from RileyCentral (a mighty fine personal daddy blog) who tagged me about sharing my favorite things. Well, I’ve got that squared away too, with this other past post on my personal obsessions :). But here are some of my favorite stuff (excluding people).

  1. Reality television :D
  2. My garden
  3. Home furnishings and home improvement
  4. Health improvement
  5. The web
  6. Crime and mystery
  7. Psychological thrillers

Thanks to my taggers! I’ve decided not to single out anyone else for further tagging since I just did it not too long ago with the MOMA advice meme. But if you’re a blogger reading this or a reader who’d just like to share your own 7 or 8 random things about yourself, do share away! :) I look forward to your revelations.

Wow! The First generation immigrant and 15 years as a Software Engineer are certainly impressive! I know you’ll hit that entrepreneurial mom goal any day now! Thanks for the link and keep up the good work!

This was some interesting reading for this rainy Saturday (in my part of the world thought!)

From which country are you coming from? Is the drawing in your “about me” section is relevant?

Damien: Yes, we have decided on a more concrete financial goal we’d like to reach fairly soon: one year to my “work retirement” while the other half starts making an income via startup funding. Wish us luck!

Paid Twice… I am a reality show addict, I must admit. While others may disagree, I do it to relax ;). I get my mind/body rest that way — with mindless, shallow entertainment.

Financial Blogger: I’m actually Asian so yes, the drawing resembles me (okay, if not in the exterior, in the interior… ;)). I have refrained from revealing more, so that I can remain as anonymous as possible, if I can muster it. Some co-workers I have are familiar with the pf blogging world and I get nervous about them finding me out…;)

Very cool. I like learning more about fellow bloggers. My parents came into the US as first generation immigrants for a better education and life. However, they didn’t master financial education. So kudos to you! Job well done!

I never even realized that the SVB is my kababayan. I was surprised by this very exciting fact.
