So much has happened this week as you can see from yet another massive roundup :). When my roundup grows this long, I’m going to experiment with this sort of layout. I hope it helps make things more readable and organized!
Picks From My Regular Reads
- The Sun’s Financial Diary: Sun gamely shares with us his September investment scorecard. This is just one of the many reasons I truly enjoy Sun’s blog and why I’m a loyal fan. He makes some pretty sophisticated investment and other money plays and tells us how he’s doing. I particularly appreciate how he provides specifics and discusses his holdings in detail.
- Money Smart Life: Preemptive spending and shopping can save you some money. If you spend ahead of time, you can actually save in the longer run. This is why I have my home checked on a regular schedule, so that I don’t defer the maintenance to the point when problems get bigger and more costly.
- Lazy Man and Money: Passive income is one of my favorite subjects and Lazy has more to say about it. I agree with him that whatever we’re earning as a side business can only be characterized as very active income.
- Gen X Finance: Can lawsuits get any sillier? That lady who sued over a discounted iPhone, I mean.
- Money, Matter and More Musings: Are personal finance bloggers rich, arrogant and inflexible? I won’t generalize: I find that just like the real world, you have a mixed bag of all sorts and I love the diversity. But bloggers, in general, write about stuff that they’re pretty comfortable with, so it isn’t a surprise that a significant representation have their finances in order.
- The Simple Dollar: Trying to build income and reduce debt load are definitely strong goals that require a lot of time. Trent has a few words on how to handle these challenges.
- All Financial Matters: Since I enjoy home projects so much, I’ve been keeping track of JLP’s progress as he improves his home. He’s moved his fireplace around.
- Five Cent Nickel: How often do you find yourself in a slight panic, realizing your wallet is missing? Fear not, as here’s some advice on what to do.
- Blueprint For Financial Prosperity: Hmmm… Jim has brought up the dreaded “R” word recently. I’ve actually been through a recession (or two) which were thankfully short and forgettable. The one thing I remember was how I ramped up my dollar cost averaging program through those periods and I am glad I did!
- No Credit Needed: NCN illustrates the beauty of compounding, showing how it would work in his Roth IRA contributions over 25 years. Results should be beyond beautiful!
- Free Money Finance: My spouse and I are definitely trying this new track in our lives right now: starting our own businesses. Let’s see how we fare in the next few years. We’re doing this not just for the hope of monetary success but also for the independence and flexibility it affords us.
- Consumerism Commentary: Flexo reminds us that the federal Do Not Call List is about to expire! But should you register anyway?

Hola, Silicon Valley, thanks for featuring “What Car Is On My Mind.” It is always a pleasant surprise to be featured in your roundups.
Muchas Gracias.
Thanks for including me, I’ve only just found (subscribed for about 2 weeks now) Digerati Life but I’m really enjoying it.
Thanks for the link! So how do I become a regular read?
Thanks for the kind comments everyone :)!
Glblguy, not to worry, I have a fairly large number of blogs in my reader and a good percentage of them are already regular reads. And with my new layout here, maybe I will be able to include more things that catch my eye in the roundups.
Thanks for telling your readers about my Prive versus Cost post at Moment on Money. You know I have been a reader of yours for a while and it is nice to know you read my blog too.
I just found your blog today! I appreciate variety of topics available. I especially liked “Money, Matter and More Musings,” but I spent a lot of time following rabbit trails in several other areas. Thanks for a quality blog.
