Wills and Trusts Giveaway Winner, End of School Events plus The Carnivals!

by Silicon Valley Blogger on June 5, 2008

children, preschool graduation, school graduation

Let me squeeze in a few words in between a few “graduation” celebrations for my kids this week. As it is, I’ve been dashing in and out of the house all day today, attending to the various festivities that come with the last few days of school. It’s the last week of school for many a school district around the nation and that means… an entirely new summer schedule to preoccupy our kids with. I’m still fixing up our summer schedule and it’ll be packed. What will yours be like?

Book Giveaway Winner!

On another note, last week I held a mini-giveaway for one copy of this book: A Parent’s Guide To Wills and Trusts and it turned out that quite a lot of you were receptive towards it. It seems that many of you have estate planning on your mind!

I’m happy to announce that our winner for this event is our 4th commentator, reader “Terri”, who was randomly chosen from the list of commentators who left us a message. I’d like to thank everyone who left us a kind message in our comments section. At some point, I’ll be holding more giveaways (bigger ones) so please stay tuned to this channel for the opportunity to take home more helpful resources to address your personal finance needs.

For now, let’s check out the carnivals to see what’s been cooking over there lately.

Around The Money Web

There’s a record-breaking number of entries at the Carnival of Personal Finance #155 which was graciously hosted by Moolanomy. I was very happy to discover that my article about increasing one’s salary was selected as an Editor’s Pick! Thank you Pinyo for including my post in this packed and informative list. You’ll quickly find that these choice articles represent the great quality of work that is put into each carnival:

Meanwhile, at the Festival of Frugality #128 which was held at No Debt Plan, I enjoyed going through the frugal articles and found these particular ones intriguing:

I also had a blast over at the 93rd Carnival of Real Estate which was put together by the very inventive Phoenix Real Estate Guy, especially since I somehow received the “guacamole award” for my post on finding the down payment for a new home. Yay! Going to that carnival just woke up my taste buds…

Elsewhere in the financial web, I found a few mentions of my site that I thought were interesting. Thank you to Lance Turner of Arkansas Business for spotlighting my article on ways to save yourself a thousand bucks and to Kimberly Palmer of Alpha Consumer for letting us in on some goal setting exercises done by some financial bloggers, which included an employment status update from yours truly.

Welcome Summer!

Thank you for mentioning the carnival. It would be very difficult for your article NOT to be part of the editor’s picks.

Thanks for the mention - not your average article, but if sex is going to save money, I’m all for it :)

Regarding your post on my site, if you’d like, I can try and send some rain your way.

Great links! I thought it was interesting to read those articles. Their title sounds good and are irresistable to be explored. Honestly speaking, I’ve been starting visiting this site for just 3-4 weeks, but I learned a lot of things from you. and I enjoy reading your posts like the Words of the Financially Challenged and others.

Thanks :-)
