Come celebrate the Carnival of Personal Finance’s third anniversary at the place where it all started. Consumerism Commentary hosts the Carnival of Personal Finance #157: Third Anniversary Edition this week and it’s long, going on strong!
Please visit the carnival as it’s brimming with a lot of personal finance tips and advice like what you’ll see here:
- The Emergency Fund- Where Should I Keep It and Why? @ Think Your Way To Wealth
- Is it Possible to Save Money on Gas? @ The Money Answer Guy
- Are You Losing Money to Common Investing Mistakes? @ Millionaire Money Habits
And right next door is the The Eight Little Pigs – Festival of Frugality #130 over at Out of Debt Again. I thought the host did a fabulous job with the cute and whimsical “piggy” theme, which seemed rather timely since my entry to this festival was about the recent increase in spam sales
. You’ll find my article right under the “piggy who went to market” section! Do visit the carnival for more money saving tips, or check out these entries:
- Consumer Beware of Professional Service Providers @ The Money Crashers
- Free Isn’t Really Free. A Story Of Mendacious Marketers @ Are You Going To Be This Way The Rest of The Time I Know You?
- 10 Reasons the Diva Cup Can Change Your Life @ Squawkfox [Whoah! This one made me do a double-take!]
You can also round out your reading list with these additional offerings:
- The Carnival of Debt Reduction, Advice From Dad Edition at Blunt Money dishes out helpful advice on getting rid of your debt
- The Cavalcade of Risk #54 at Blueprint For Financial Prosperity tells you what it’s like to stick your neck out
- The Carnival of Money Stories #64, Time To Listen To Others Edition at MoneyNing gives us a collection of personal accounts (as in stories!) revolving around finance
I’ll have more reading lists for you by end of the week.
And finally, I’d like to thank Karen Datko from Smart Spending for making mention of my aforementioned “spam sales” post in her own catchy sounding article “He Will Not Eat Green Eggs and Spam”. That made me chuckle! Thanks also to Lance Turner from Arkansas Business Blog for featuring my post about how to recession-proof your job and career.

Whoah! Thanks for the marvelous mention Silicon Valley Blogger! Seriously, the Diva Cup is awesome. Wish I had discovered it years ago.:)
Thanks for mentioning both the Cavalcade of Risk and the Festival of Frugality!
@SquawkFox,
You know, I think the concept of the Diva Cup sounds really great, but being that this is the first time I’ve ever heard of it (thanks to you!), I think it may take me some time to wrap my brain around how to make it work…
I have to be honest, the idea sort of gives me shivers… Then again, if you think about it hard enough, the alternatives should give you shivers too! lol. But I’m sure not surprised why it has a lot of fans!
@Jim,
Love your carnivals man!
I like the idea of The Diva Cup!! It would’ve been great if I had discovered it long time ago
Thanks for the mention! Your blog is one of the best in the PF community in my book, so it is much appreciated.
RC,
Thank you so much for the compliment! So many great PF blogs out there IMO, including yours, if I say so myself. I am always pleased to include quality material like yours in my roundups!
Hi SVB: Actually, it was my colleague Karen Datko who did the “green eggs and Spam” link. Just wanted to give credit where credit is due.
Incidentally, I won’t eat green eggs and Spam, either.
Thanks for the mention.
Best regards,
Donna Freedman

It’s great to see a blog where I can catch on both old and new articles.
This seems to be a good PF blog to start learning from. Really like the tone of everyone here. I guess I am what you call a simple article writer. Trying to find financially related things to talk about is a challenge — don’t know how you do it.
Brilliant work.
