Check out the latest news on FNBO Direct, ETrade Bank and WTDirect savings accounts.
What’s going on in the land of online savings accounts? We’re facing lower bank rates across the board, but there are still some savings accounts that are offering competitive rates.
What follows are updates on some of the bank offerings that we track on a regular basis. If you’re looking for reasonable yields for your money, these are some options you can consider:

The Etrade Bank Complete Savings Account just had its yield lowered to 0.50%, as more and more high yield savings account interest rates get readjusted downwards in response to economic conditions and decreasing Fed rates. You may still want to check it out as a viable high interest repository for your safe money. |

Meanwhile, the FNBO Direct Online Savings Account currently returns 1.25% and has made the “Best List” for online savings accounts in Kiplinger’s 2008 coverage of best financial services. Their current yield may have something to do with that ranking. Right now, FNBO still has an interest rate that’s many times the national average. Check here for more details. |

The WTDirect High Yield Savings Account is now returning 1.16% APY. This rate ranks in the top 5% of all bank yields and will hold for the first 60 days from the date you open an account. Beyond that date, you will continue to earn 1.16% if your account balance is at least $10,000. For those with lower balances, you’ll receive 0.50% APY. If you’re interested in opening a WTDirect account, you can do so here. |

I’m sick of the low interest rates in my savings accounts lately, and I’ve been wondering if I should get into cds or something else. I never really thought about online savings accounts though. Maybe I should look into that.
Dollar Savings Direct offers 4.00% APY, smokes all these fools.
SVB: That was then, this is now.
In fact, Ally Bank beats them all right now.
