Online Couponing For Life and How I Got Started

by Stacey Doyle on January 29, 2010 | edited by SVB

I started couponing as a young teen. I had my first allowance, then my first job. As a sophisticated reader of Seventeen magazine, I knew there were coupons for name brand cosmetics. I cut out the coupon, earned back the cost of the magazine and saved money off a luxury purchase. A coupon queen was born!

When I moved into my own place as a young adult, I realized that coupons meant that I could have meals of rice and meat instead of ramen noodles and broth. After marriage, coupons were used to save on anything from dinner for two to a vacation weekend. With children, coupons made it possible to afford the rising cost of disposable diapers and formula.

Coupons are used for everything from clothing purchases to electronics to toys and games. Local newspapers print coupons for money off services ranging from haircuts to lawn maintenance to construction. There is a coupon for almost anything you need. Finding that coupon means you “earn” money without getting a second job.

Using coupon codes online means triple savings. You get discounted online prices with even more money off. Finally, the item is shipped to your door so you save on transportation costs including gas, vehicle maintenance and public transportation. I started finding coupons at a forum website called Volition and my interest grew from there!

Blogging about coupons is a way to share what we know and to save even more. As I share freebies, deals, coupons, savings and more, feel free to comment and tell us what you know. The more we share what we know, the more our savings grow!
