The Downside of a Nice Warm Winter
You’d say global warming is much in effect if you could see how things are in Northern California right now. Except that the extremely cold weather and ice storms in other parts of the country would seemingly dispel this premise.
Over here in the Silicon Valley region, it’s shaping up to be a fairly dry and warm winter — it feels very pleasant, much like Spring. I think it’s the “best” winter yet, in terms of awesome, mild weather. Sounds really great on the surface, but I really wish it weren’t this way.
No, it’s not because I want to be a wet blanket (I actually do not like rainy weather); rather, it’s because we need the rains to come back or we’ll be worrying much more about the possibility of a different kind of storm, in the coming months. I’m talking about firestorms (wildfires), which hit this region like clockwork each year. The drier things get, the more rampant they become; plus it doesn’t help that we’d be facing a drought at the same time.
It’s not too early for me to start thinking about droughts either, as my yard is beginning to sport a slight shade of yellow even at this time. It reminds me every day of what we can expect for the rest of the year: higher water bills, yellow lawn, and unflushed toilets. I’m not looking forward to this!
I guess I should enjoy the spring-like weather as much as I can since it comes at such a cost!

True. With the global warming all this other stuff goes down. Domino effect
Anyone denying that global warming is getting worse is blind. The intense wildfires out west over the last year are valid proof. If you saw the size of the storm that brought snow, sleet, and ice to the midwest and east coast the last week then you saw another example of how it is all getting worse. Hoepefully the administration looks to find answers. Thanks for the mention of my post!
Thanks for the mention, SVB! Great roundup.
