The Simple Dollar tells us about Finding Your Dream House and Trying To Convince Yourself You Can’t Quite Afford It, where Trent lays out his plans about considering a house on the upper range of his budget. I was in his position 6 years ago as I carried my first child, wishing for a larger house for our growing family. Back then, it was just after the 9/11 tragedy and some of the house prices here took a deep dive. Realizing the opportunity, we jumped into the market and found a house we loved that was at the the *very* high end of our budget. We went ahead anyway, even though we were subsisting on one income (as we do now), pegging our hopes on the incredibly low mortgage interest rates that existed then. It all worked out in the end. But it could be a different story today so Trent is wise to weigh his options and proceed with care regarding this decision. I wish him luck with it.

I haven’t ventured to Europe in ages so I wouldn’t know where to start looking for property there…;).

When I visit some old friends stationed there, I could check things out, but I hear that things are quite more expensive!
