She’s A PF Blogger Now?!

I found myself feeling just a little self-conscious when I found out what the theme was for Mint.com’s Carnival of Personal Finance #109. It’s called “The First Post Edition” where the carnival presented both my post about unusual names as well as our first blog entry ever. I thought it was a cool theme, but it made me feel like I was caught with a bad hair photo in the school yearbook: I mean, did they really need to dig up our past like that
?
So before I jump into the meat of the carnival, I’d like to clarify a few things here with this bit of trivia…. Basically, my earliest posts will probably stick out as somewhat different in flavor compared to the rest of the articles here since I started off not really knowing what sort of thing to write about. I just thought it would be about “money” in general, but honestly didn’t realize I was moving into the realm of affiliate marketing topics until I was denied my first application into pfblogs.org. Since then, I’ve changed direction and stuck to general finance and business.
I have kept my older posts here for posterity so I can remind myself every so often how it all started out… sort of for sentimental reasons. I also just noticed that it’s almost been a year since I began posting here. Despite having created this blog sometime in late July of last year, I don’t really consider that day as when this site was actually born. In the spirit of what this blog is truly about, I’d like to think that our start date here was actually in mid-October of last year, as proclaimed by this announcement. Either way, you may find this first-post-trip-to-the-past somewhat amusing in the “what were they like back then” mold. And I truly want to thank Mint.com for reconnecting me to fond memories of my old Blogger days.
Now that I got that off my chest, let’s move on to some of the articles from this uniquely fun carnival!
- Joint Accounts: One for you, One for me, One for us @ Clever Dude
- Hypothetically Speaking… @ Insure Blog
- Can Money Make You Happy? @ Millionaire Mommy Next Door
- Gratitude and the Garage Door Opener @ Money Changes Things
- Additional Income Possibilities: Side Jobs @ Plonkee Money
Whereas over at the Festival of Frugality #83 at Money Walks, I came across these fine pieces:
- Libraries Are Not As Bad As You Think @ MoneyNing
- Ten Commandments of Frugal Living @ Grad Money Matters
- A Great Alternative to Buying Expensive Cameras, Lenses and other Photography Equipment @ Dough Roller
Hope you enjoy these as much as I have. You can read more great articles over at those carnivals, so please stop by and check them out!

Hey, thanks for top billing! I also can’t really count last June as my anniversary date because it wasn’t until Jan 1 of this year that I got into personal finance blogging full-tilt. Even now, though, I try to highlight non-finance topics like families, marriage, etc. That was actually my original intent for the site, but now I’m a PF site.
SVB,
Nice pic! Glad no one has mine
SS, I wish I could’ve fixed the hair a little bit better before they snapped that pic! Other than that, I thought you’d enjoy this hot photo ….;) heh.
That picture is hilarious!
