What do you get when you cross Dr. Seuss with thoughts on the environment? Well, you’ll get Dr. Seuss’ friendly neighborhood Lorax, of course:
I am the Lorax. I speak for the trees.
I’ve come here to celebrate “Blog Action Day,” so please
Come join me and help spread the message I bring.
Be a friend to the trees and to each living thing.
Blog Action Day had a fantastic turnout with articles on the environment posted by 20,000 blogs. I was glad to have been part of this significant event in the blogosphere where so many shared their views on this topic. Here’s a short list of what this day offered:
- 10 Things To Do to Stop Global Warming @ Pinoy Tech
- Some Notes on the Environment: Why I Care And Why An Inconvenient Truth Doesn’t Matter @ The Simple Dollar
- Save Money and the Environment @ Lazy Man and Money
- Get Rid of Unwanted Mail. It’s Bad for your Wallet and Bad for the Environment @ Grad Money Matters
- Want to Save the Environment? Buy Less Stuff! @ Get Rich Slowly
- Blog Action Day: State Of The Nation @ Money, Matter and More Musings

Along with Blog Action Day, last Monday brought about a different kind of carnival: I have to say I was much entertained by The Carnival of Personal Finance #122 by Mighty Bargain Hunter, which was written in Dr. Seuss style. As MBHunter proclaimed:
This Carnival’s huge! It’s gigantic! Supremo!
A strawberry float with a ton of whip cream-o!
All Personal Finance! You’ll just want to scream-o!
Enjoy these posts with your strawberry float:
- Trying and Buying Musical Instruments the Wrong Way @ Clever Dude
- The Primerica Paradox: The Approach @ The Financial Blogger
- Best and Worst Financial Decisions: From the Trenches @ I’ve Paid For This Twice Already
There was also The Festival of Frugality #96 – The FIRE Edition, where Fire Finance covered some good ground with these articles:
- Ten Ways Living Simply Can Save You Money @ My Two Dollars
- Avoiding The Block: Get The Knives You Really Need @ A Penny Closer
And lastly, you can check out what’s going on in our cities at The Carnival of Real Estate which was graciously hosted by agentgenius.com (thank you for the honorable mention!) and The Carnival of Cities Goes GONZO! hosted by the awesome Fear and Loathing – The Gonzo Papers.

Have any good links about electric cars? I think that is our best option. Even more so than Hydrogen. Why? Even though hydrogen is clean it, can be controlled by the supplier.
And as all of us Silicon Valley types are ripping up our houses and rebuilding, we should consider selecting products that are bit more eco-friendly:
Composite countertops (wood, glass, etc.) vs Granite
Alternative roofing materials vs. asphalt
Tubular skylights vs. more light bulbs.
There are a ton of great ideas that I found on GetWithGreen.com. The site is focused on us homeowners who are looking to remodel our small (making them big) homes in the Bay Area.
Thanks for the roundup of Blog Action Day blog posts.
You had me at Lorax. My parents recently recovered that VHS tape from a dusty cabinet and gave it to me, so I’m going to burn it on a disc and keep it going for another generation… “Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”
Thanks for mentioning my post!
It’s great to see a roundup of the Blog Action Day posts. There were so many great articles out there for that event.
The Lorax story rocks! Thanks for those links, I will be checking them out.
When I read the biography of Dr. Seuss I was really surprised because I discovered he had no children. But he loves children enough to write for them.
