Learn How To Haggle, Defeat Debt and Save By Delusion @ The Carnivals

by Silicon Valley Blogger on April 2, 2008

Free Money Finance just closed his March Madness competition and my submission did make it to the Final Four round, as one of four other posts. I have to thank FMF for hosting this event again (this was my 2nd year of participating) and for sweetening the prize pot by offering donations to the winners’ charities. Here were the prizes:

  • Champion — $500 donated to charity of choice
  • 2nd Place — $250 donated to charity of choice
  • 3rd/4th Place — $100 donated to charity of choice each

and the Final Four:

Congrats to those who have advanced! I believe there’s still one round left where the finalists battle it out.

On another note, I was also very pleased that the posts I submitted to the Carnival of Personal Finance and Festival of Frugality were both well received. Thank you to the hosts for including Don’t Get Scammed and Rent Instead of Buy in your carnivals!

The Carnival of Personal Finance #146 - Online Broker Tips Edition held at Stock Trading To Go has a list of articles a mile long. I enjoyed going through the list, and finding these posts:

The Festival of Frugality #119: The Quitting My Day Job to Blog Full Time Edition played out at Consumerism Commentary, where Flexo found the opportunity to announce his departure from his job. But yeah, was it an April Fool’s prank? Either way, I fell for it. :) And I also fell for a few fine reads:

Outstanding articles…all!

Wow, my “haggle” post even made into your title. :-)

Thanks for the mention.

Hi Bryce,
Yes, that’s how much of an impact your article made on me! :) Actually, I come from a family of “hagglers”. My grandmothers, in particular, were astute and experienced hagglers. But heck, it must be a cultural thing too!
